Because of the ingredients used in the Brightening Peel, we strongly recommend that you follow all application steps, including pre- and post-peel, as provided below. This will help ensure the best results and best skin comfort.
Please store the Brightening Peel at room temperature before and between uses.
PREP: How to Prepare for Your Brightening Peel
For 2 weeks prior to your treatment, apply Daily Dark Spot Intercept followed by moisturizer and sunscreen. At night, repeat the application of Daily Dark Spot Intercept and moisturizer. When outdoors, reapply sunscreen every 2-3 hours.
These steps prime the skin, creating the ideal condition to apply Brightening Peel and ensuring the best post-peel results.
You should not use Brightening Peel for at least 2 weeks, and preferably 4 weeks, after using a strong peel or facial treatment containing AHAS/BHAS or retinoid/retinol, including at-home and in-office procedures, to allow your skin to fully recover.
PEEL: What to Do on Treatment Day
Use the provided Accessory Kit which contains gauze pads, dropper and cap.
Step 1: Pull hair completely off face. Cleanse skin with your normal cleanser.
Step 2: Open the Brightening Peel vial by pushing up on the thin plastic cap, positioning your thumb at the base of the arrows. This will break the foil safety seal in the center. Continue pulling in the direction of the arrows and twist to remove the rest of the foil seal. Carefully remove the inner stopper.
Step 3: Fold the provided gauze pad into quarters and use 1-2 droppers full of the Brightening Peel solution on the pad. Evenly distribute the solution from the center of the pad to the edges. Make sure that the gauze is not dripping.
Step 4: Apply one layer of the Peel, using a single passage over skin, working in this order and avoiding eye area entirely:
- Forehead
- Lower face (around the mouth, avoiding lips)
- Nose area
- Cheeks (don't apply above your cheekbone)
Step 5: After applying one complete layer, wait 3-5 minutes for the reaction to fully develop. A certain amount of sensation, including stinging and mild burning, is expected. Check your face for signs of redness. If redness and discomfort are moderate to severe, please do not apply another layer on the affected area.
If you see minimal redness and discomfort, you can repeat the full-face application in Steps 3-5 for a total of 5-7 layers, depending on your skin sensitivity and experience with chemical peels. If you see a light frost occurring on the skin, don't apply any more layers.
Step 6: Once you have applied the final layer, wait 15-30 minutes, then apply Daily Dark Spot Intercept and follow with Daily Renewal Cream as needed to keep the treated area well moisturized. Be sure to follow with Mineral Sunscreen prior to any sun exposure, and reapply Mineral Sunscreen every 2-3 hours when you are outdoors.
If you have extra solution in the bottle, pop on the extra cap and save for your next peel day. Enjoy your brighter skin for at least 2-4 weeks before you repeat Brightening Peel. Store upright in a cool, dark place, away from pets, children and jostling; (it's best if the opened solution doesn't spill as it can cause damage to some surfaces; we suggest leaving it home when you travel). Once opened, Brightening Peel should be used or carefully disposed of within 12 months. For disposal of leftover formula: turn the water faucet on and pour down the drain while water is running.
POST: How to Care For Skin After Your Peel
Starting the evening immediately following the Brightening Peel treatment, apply both Daily Dark Spot Intercept and Daily Renewal Cream. Continue applying both products daily, AM and PM, as skin heals.
It’s very important to use sun protection in the daytime to protect skin and encourage results. Avoid sun exposure, or if you must be outside, reapply every 2-3 hours.
Keeping the treated area moisturized is essential. Apply Daily Renewal Cream as needed to minimize dryness and redness.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Everyone's skin responds differently. You may experience visible flaking or peeling, especially 2-4 days post-treatment. This is normal. DO NOT exfoliate or pull the skin on the treated area. It will come off on its own.
POWER PAIRING: USING BRIGHTENING PEEL WITH DARK SPOT PEEL
Layering the two Ourself peels is safe and effective—and highly recommended! First apply the Brightening Peel all over, then follow with the Dark Spot Peel on targeted areas. Keep in mind:
- Finish applying your five to seven layers of Brightening Peel before moving to Dark Spot Peel
- If your skin is frosted after using Brightening Peel, stop there and don't continue with Dark Spot Peel
- If you see frosting while using Dark Spot Peel, stop and don't apply any more layers
- Be sure to read the complete directions for both peels
- Remember to wait at least 2 weeks, and preferably 4 weeks, after getting another strong treatment. This applies to the Ourself peels, too! Let your skin fully recover
- If you are new to using peels, we suggest trying one or the other on its own first, so you see how your skin responds
Warning - Discontinue use if you experience irritation or burning.
